Road repairs in Pamah Semelir following landslide to begin in October
The Governor of North Sumatra, Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, has confirmed that repairs to the landslide-affected road in the hamlet of Pamah Semelir (Telagah Village, Langkat Regency) will commence in October 2026.
The repairs are being undertaken because the landslide has blocked the alternative access route between Langkat Regency and Tanah Karo.

Bobby made this statement during an inspection of the landslide site in Pamah Semelir hamlet, Telagah Village, Langkat Regency, on Friday, September 11, 2026. The North Sumatra Governor was welcomed by the Acting Regent of Langkat, Tiorita Br Surbakti, and local residents.
During the inspection, Bobby examined the condition of the road, which is currently passable for only one vehicle at a time. A section of the road collapsed due to the landslide, creating an increased risk of accidents. Furthermore, the water pipes supplying clean water to residents’ homes have also been damaged.
Bobby subsequently offered a temporary solution to ensure the local community retains access to clean water. “We will send water to the community later,” he said after listening to the residents’ complaints.
Bobby stated that the roadworks would begin in October 2026. He indicated that the North Sumatra provincial government would execute the project immediately due to the urgency of the situation.

Pending the permanent repairs, the North Sumatra provincial government, in collaboration with the Langkat district government, will construct a temporary access road so that the public can continue to use the route.
The Acting Regent of Langkat, Tiorita Br Surbakti, stated that her office would first repair the damaged water pipeline. “We will repair the broken pipe first, sir, so that the community has access to clean water again,” she said.
Tiorita also expressed her gratitude for the swift response from the Governor of North Sumatra, who took proactive measures to address the aftermath of the landslide in Langkat.
Meanwhile, Ade Sembiring, a resident of Telaga village in the Sungai Bingei district of Langkat Regency, said that the community had been without clean water for three weeks due to the landslide. The blocked road is also hindering the distribution of goods and community activities between Karo and Langkat.

Jalan Longsor Pamah Semelir Diperbaiki Oktober Ini
Gubernur Sumatera Utara (Sumut), Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution memastikan perbaikan jalan yang longsor di Dusun Pamah Semelir, Desa Telagah, Kabupaten Langkat, mulai dikerjakan Oktober 2026.
Perbaikan tersebut dilakukan karena longsor telah mengganggu akses alternatif yang menghubungkan Kabupaten Langkat dengan Tanah Karo.
Hal itu disampaikan Bobby saat meninjau langsung lokasi jalan longsor di Dusun Pamah Semelir, Desa Telagah, Kabupaten Langkat, Jumat, 11 September 2026. Kehadiran Gubernur Sumut disambut Plt Bupati Langkat Tiorita Br Surbakti bersama masyarakat sekitar.
Dalam peninjauan tersebut, Bobby melihat kondisi jalan yang saat ini hanya bisa dilalui satu kendaraan. Longsor menyebabkan sebagian badan jalan ambles dan rawan kecelakaan. Selain itu, pipa yang mendistribusikan air bersih ke rumah warga juga terputus.
Bobby kemudian memberikan solusi sementara agar masyarakat sekitar tetap mendapatkan kebutuhan air bersih. “Nanti kita kirim air ya untuk masyarakat,” ucapnya usai mendengar keluhan warga.
Bobby mengatakan perbaikan jalan tersebut mulai dikerjakan pada Oktober 2026. Menurutnya, karena kondisinya mendesak, Pemerintah Provinsi (Pemprov) Sumut segera merealisasikannya.
Namun, sambil menunggu perbaikan permanen dimulai, Pemprov Sumut bersama Pemkab Langkat akan membangun akses sementara agar masyarakat tetap dapat menggunakan jalan tersebut.
Plt Bupati Langkat Tiorita Br Surbakti mengatakan pihaknya akan terlebih dahulu memperbaiki pipa saluran air bersih yang terputus. “Kami akan memperbaiki dulu pak pipanya yang terputus, biar masyarakat dapat air bersih,” ucapnya.
Tiorita juga menyampaikan terima kasih atas respons cepat Gubernur Sumut dalam mengantisipasi dampak longsor yang terjadi di Langkat.
Sementara itu, warga Desa Telaga, Kecamatan Sungai Bingei, Kabupaten Langkat, Ade Sembiring mengatakan, akibat jalan longsor, masyarakat sudah tiga pekan tidak mendapatkan air bersih. Terputusnya akses jalan juga menghambat distribusi barang serta aktivitas masyarakat dari Karo ke Langkat dan sebaliknya.
“Harapan kami kepada Bapak Gubernur agar jalan kami ini segera diperbaiki agar seluruh aktivitas masyarakat lancar. Begitu juga dengan ketersediaan air bersih yang terputus,” pungkasnya. ***rel
