Ministry of Labor: JKP an important instrument for worker protection and career development
The Ministry of Labor (Kemnaker) encourages workers to understand and utilize the Job Loss Guarantee Program (JKP) as part of the social safety net for employment, while simultaneously strengthening the competencies and career skills of Indonesian workers.
The Director General of Labor Relations and Social Security (PHI and Jamsos) at the Ministry of Labor, Indah Anggoro Putri, emphasized that JKP is designed to strengthen social protection and improve workers’ preparation for the dynamics of the labor market.

“JKP is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen social protection while simultaneously improving workers’ competencies and career skills,” stated Indah in a press release from the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Labor on Sunday (June 14, 2026). The benefits of the JKP program include a benefit of 60 percent of wages for up to six months, in accordance with applicable regulations, access to information on the labor market, vocational training, and career counseling.
One of the key pillars of the JKP program is career counseling. This service helps participants understand their potential, interests, and competencies, develop a new career plan following redundancy, and receive career guidance that aligns with their skills and needs.
Furthermore, career counseling contributes to reducing stress and confusion resulting from job loss, increasing the chances of returning to the labor market, and providing recommendations for training or retraining programs to increase the chances of finding a new job.
Career counseling and advice are provided by employment agencies or temp agencies, in accordance with their employment mediation services.

Indah added that employees are expected to understand the participation requirements of the JKP program and ensure they meet them in order to participate and make use of the available services. These requirements include possession of Indonesian nationality (WNI), salaried employment, being under the age of 54 at the time of enrollment, and enrollment in the National Health Insurance (JKN) of the BPJS Kesehatan (Healthcare Social Security Agency).
Additionally, employees of micro and small businesses must be enrolled in the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan program, which includes Workers’ Accident Insurance (JKK), Death Insurance (JKM), and Old Age Insurance (JHT). Employees of medium-sized and large companies, on the other hand, must register for the JKK, JKM, JHT, and the Pension Insurance (JP).
“We encourage employees to understand the participation requirements and benefits of the JKN program so that they can make optimal use of all services offered by the government,” said Indah. ***rel
