Minister of Manpower Yassierli: Innovation Culture Crucial for Improving the Ministry of Manpower’s Service Quality
Minister of Manpower Yassierli stated that the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) continues to foster a culture of innovation as part of its efforts to create an agile organization and deliver increasingly better services to the public.
According to Yassierli, innovation is a tangible expression of the “A Great Place to Grow” mindset, one of the Ministry of Manpower’s core values. This culture is important because the employment services provided by the government directly address the needs of the public, who hold high expectations regarding service quality.
“This culture of innovation is essential because what we do—our services—is vital to the public. The public has high expectations of us,” said Yassierli during the closing of the Ministry of Manpower Pitching Champion Hub 2026 finals in Jakarta on Monday (August 10, 2026).
Yassierli noted that there is always room for improvement within the organization. Therefore, every Ministry of Manpower employee must cultivate a mindset that recognizes there are always opportunities to create something better.
“An innovator always believes there is a way to improve,” he said.
According to Yassierli, this mindset must become part of the work culture at all levels within the Ministry of Manpower. The resulting innovations should not only benefit the organization but also have a positive impact on society.

“The mindset is about continuous improvement—doing things better. The impact can benefit both us and society,” he said. He added that this innovative mindset aligns with the ‘One Ministry of Labour’ value—specifically, fostering a mindset of a single ministry with one goal and one shared contribution. Therefore, innovations developed by any department should be viewed as part of a collective effort to enhance the ministry’s performance.
Yassierli emphasized that while generating innovation is one thing, ensuring its effective implementation is the next challenge. Change management is therefore essential to ensure that the ideas generated are accepted, implemented, and yield sustainable benefits.
“The challenge following innovation is implementation. It is a matter of change management: how we drive innovation and change, how they are accepted, and how they can be implemented,” he said. ***REL
