Minister of Labour: Working from home continues to safeguard employees’ rights

The Minister of Labour, Yassierli, has called upon private companies, state-owned enterprises, and regional companies to work from home one day a week via Circular M/6/HK.04/III/2026.

This policy is part of a broader effort to strengthen national energy security while simultaneously promoting productive, flexible, and sustainable work patterns.

“The leaders of private companies, state-owned enterprises, and municipal authorities are encouraged to introduce working from home (WFH) for employees for one working day per week, depending on company conditions, with working hours determined by each company,” stated the Minister of Labour.

Wages/salaries and other compensation continue to be paid in accordance with the provisions

Through this circular, employees’ rights are safeguarded regarding the introduction of working from home. Wages/salaries and other compensation are paid in accordance with the provisions and are not reduced by vacation days.

Employees working from home continue to perform their duties and obligations, while the company ensures that productivity and service quality are maintained.

However, exceptions to the work-from-home policy may be made for sectors requiring physical presence, such as healthcare, energy, infrastructure and public services, retail, industry and manufacturing, services, hospitality, transport and logistics, and the financial sector.

Companies are encouraged to conserve energy in the workplace

In addition to implementing working from home, companies are also encouraged to use energy more efficiently in the workplace through more efficient technology and equipment, strengthening a culture of sensible energy use, and controlling and monitoring energy consumption through measurable operational policies.

The Minister of Labour also emphasized the importance of the involvement of employees and trade unions in the implementation of this policy, both in designing and implementing programmes, raising collective awareness, and stimulating innovation to create more productive and flexible work patterns regarding energy use. ***rel
