Minister of Labour assures that social security rights of Bekasi train accident victims are being honored

Minister of Labour (Menaker) Yassierli stated that on May 4, 2026, nine of the sixteen victims who perished in the train accident between the Cikarang shuttle line and the Argo Bromo Anggrek train in Bekasi, West Java, on April 27, 2026, had received a social security benefit from the government.

Minister Yassierli explained that the total benefits received by the surviving relatives of the accident victims consist of an old-age pension (JHT) of approximately 197.28 million Indonesian rupees, a death benefit (JKM) of 42 million Indonesian rupees, a workers’ accident insurance (JKK) of 2.02 billion Indonesian rupees, and grants for six children with a maximum value of 458.5 million Indonesian rupees. In addition, there is also a periodic pension benefit (JP).

“This demonstrates that the government is committed to social security, not only for the workers themselves, but also for the families they leave behind. We want to secure the future of their children through scholarships,” said Yassierli on Monday, May 4, 2026, in Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java.

The Minister of Labor added that of the nine victims of the MD disaster who have received compensation, eight are participants of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, registered at the branches in Jakarta Gambir, Jakarta Salemba, Jakarta Kebon Sirih, Jakarta Ceger, Jakarta Mangga Dua, and Grha Jamsostek (Jakarta regional office), and one participant at the branch in South Tangerang (Banten regional office).

To date, the compensation has been paid out to the heirs in various installments. On April 29, 2026, the compensation was paid to the heirs of Nuryati and Nur Ainia Rahmadhynna. The following day, the compensation was transferred to the heirs of Adelia Rifani.

Subsequently, on May 4, 2026, further compensation was paid to the heirs of Tutik Anitasari, Arinjani Novita Sari, and Ida Nuraida.

For the other three victims, Enggar Retno Krisjayanti, Harum Anjarsari, and Vica Acnia Fratiwi, payment will commence immediately once the necessary administrative requirements have been met and the heirs have been confirmed.

Regarding Ida Nuraida’s status, the government is conducting further investigations to determine which type of benefit she is eligible for and whether she falls under the JKK or JKM category. “We will continue to monitor this process until all the rights of the heirs are fulfilled without bureaucratic obstacles,” emphasized the Minister of Labour. ***rel
