Minister of Labor encourages participants to obtain competency certification to strengthen their competitive position

Minister of Labor Yassierli has encouraged participants in the third cohort of the National Internship Program (MagangHub) to take part in a competency certification, facilitated by the Ministry of Labor (Kemnaker), to strengthen their competitive position in the labor market.

The Minister extended this invitation during the closing ceremony of the third cohort of the National Internship Program at the Kemnaker building in Jakarta on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Yassierli stated that Kemnaker is preparing a competency certification program for MagangHub participants as a follow-up to the internship program.

“MagangHub participants who have completed the internship program will have the opportunity to take part in a competency certification. We have prepared approximately 15 competency areas from which they can choose. These will be assessed in training centers under the auspices of Kemnaker,” said Yassierli. According to him, the program offers added value for participants because, in addition to work experience and internship certificates, they also have the opportunity to obtain competency certificates required in the labor market.

“This is a service we want to offer to MagangHub participants. Participants therefore receive not only a portfolio and an internship certificate, but also a competency certificate that can improve their competitive position,” said Yassierli.

Yassierli urged participants to stay informed via the official channels of the Ministry of Labor, including information regarding the registration schedule, competency opportunities, and the various phases of competency certification.

In addition to improving competencies through certification, he also encouraged participants to use the SiapKerja platform, specifically the KarirHub feature, which provides information on domestic and international job vacancies.

“The Ministry of Labor continues to expand access to labor market information by integrating SiapKerja with various private job portals, so that more vacancies become available to the public,” he said.

Furthermore, Yassierli emphasized that competence development must be a priority for participants after completing the internship program. According to him, the current labor market requires not only a degree but also skills relevant to the needs of the industry. These skills can be demonstrated through a portfolio and competency certificates.

“In the future, the industry is looking for competence. They look not only at a person’s education but, above all, at their skills. This competence is reflected in the portfolio and the competency certificates,” he emphasized.

Therefore, he advised the participants to continue improving their competencies and skills relevant to the labor market. According to him, strong competencies are a major asset in the competition and will create more career opportunities in the future.

“Keep improving your competencies. That is the most important capital for competing and utilizing broader career opportunities, both nationally and internationally,” he said. ***REL
