Methamphetamine dealer and two couriers arrested by North Sumatra Regional Police in Lalang Village, Medan, Sunggal District
North Sumatra Regional Police have arrested a drug dealer with the initials ZH (43) and two couriers, PP (55) and CP (53). Officers also seized 1 kilogram of methamphetamine as evidence.
The director of the North Sumatra Regional Police’s Drug Investigation Department, Chief Commissioner Andy Arisandi, stated on Monday (February 9, 2026) that the arrest took place on a roadside in Lalang Village, Sunggal District, Deli Serdang District.
“We arrested drug dealer Zulkifli Harahap on the roadside while he was carrying one kilogram of methamphetamine,” he said.
Police accuse suspects of ordering drugs
The arrest followed a public report of drug trafficking in the Helvetia area. Police launched an investigation and eventually conducted an undercover operation.
“The officer ordered 1,000 grams of methamphetamine from ZH for 225 million rupiah,” he said.
The transaction was then arranged to take place in Lalang Village.
ZH arrived on a green Yamaha RX King motorcycle.
He then contacted PP and CP to deliver the methamphetamine. The two arrived on a black Suzuki Spin motorcycle.
CP then handed the undercover officer a blue plastic bag containing a plastic bag of Guan Yin Wang tea containing one kilogram of methamphetamine.
“During the handover, the officers immediately arrested the three suspects,” said Andy.
Two couriers arrested and evidence seized
The arrest of the drug dealer was dramatic. The dealer nearly escaped during the arrest, but the officers quickly handcuffed the suspects.
In addition to the methamphetamine, the police also seized three mobile phones, two motorcycles, and other evidence.
“The methamphetamine came from a person with the initials Sanjay, who is currently under investigation. Suspect ZH admitted that he was going to give two of his accomplices 2 million rupiah each,” the police said.
Suspects face life imprisonment or the death penalty
The three suspects are charged for their actions under Article 114, paragraph (2), alternatively Article 112, paragraph (2), in conjunction with Article 132, paragraph (1), of Act No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotic Drugs, which carries a minimum sentence of six years’ imprisonment and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment or the death penalty.
The three suspects are currently being held at the North Sumatra Regional Police’s Drug Enforcement Bureau pending further legal action.***
