Medan Police Shoot Two Motorcycle Thieves
Medan police took decisive and enforced action (shooting) against two motorcycle thieves who committed dozens of crimes.
The two motorcycle thieves who were shot have been identified as MBH (19) and MA (20), residents of the Percut Seituan neighborhood. Police intervened decisively because the two perpetrators resisted arrest.
The victim filed a report with Medan police.
The arrest of the two suspects was based on a report from the victim, Elpa Syahroni Nasution (31), who resides on Jalan Jermal XI, Graha Rahayu Complex, Denai Village, Medan Denai District. In her report, the victim stated that her green Yamaha Nmax motorcycle, registration number BK 4432 ALU, disappeared on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at approximately 4:48 a.m., West Indonesian Time.
She explained that her husband was returning home from a nearby cafe around 2:13 a.m., West Indonesian Time. The handlebars were locked, but the gate was not.
The suspect attempted to flee during the investigation.
However, around 8:20 a.m., West Indonesian Time, she awoke to find the motorcycle missing.
The victim subsequently filed a report, claiming to have suffered a loss of 34 million rupiah.
Based on this report, Chief Inspector My Dabutar of the Medan Police Criminal Investigation Department launched an investigation and successfully arrested the two suspects.
“We fired warning shots, but the two suspects resisted and tried to flee while looking for their friend, identified as D. We then intervened forcefully and deliberately, targeting their legs,” she explained.
The perpetrators admitted to having committed dozens of thefts.
During the investigation, Ainul revealed that the two perpetrators admitted to stealing motorcycles dozens of times. The perpetrator, MA, was involved in 10 crimes: first, the theft of a black Honda Beat motorcycle on Jalan Menteng Raya in 2023, then the theft of a black Beat motorcycle on Jalan Tanjung Morawa in 2023 and a black Vario motorcycle with red stripes on Jalan Letda Sudjono in 2023.
Then the theft of a black Beat motorcycle on Jalan Denai in 2024, a black Beat motorcycle on Jalan Delitua in 2024, a white Vario motorcycle on Jalan Denai in 2025, and a black Beat motorcycle on Jalan Delitua in 2025. Then the theft of a white Vario motorcycle and a black Vario motorcycle in Lubuk Pakam in 2026, the theft of a black Honda Genio motorcycle on Jalan SM Raja in 2026, and the theft of a black Yamaha. An Nmax motorcycle on Jalan Jermal XI in 2026.
Perpetrators and Evidence Seized
Meanwhile, suspect M. Bambang Hermanto has been involved in five crimes: the theft of a black Honda Beat motorcycle on Jalan Be Gang Kurma in 2017, the theft of a red Yamaha Mio motorcycle on Jalan Bengkel in 2017 and 2019. Subsequently, the theft of a blue Honda Beat on Jalan Prima in 2019, a white Mio on Jalan Makmur in 2020, and a gray Honda Scoopy in Mega City in 2022.
“Evidence was seized from the two perpetrators: two black sweaters and a pair of black trousers worn during the crimes, along with 200,000 rupiah in cash from the sale of an Nmax motorcycle,” he concluded.
