Mauliza Intan Savira Targets Gold at the 2026 North Sumatra Provincial Sports Week Boxing Arena
A boxer from Medan City whose full name is Mauliza Intan Savira is focusing on training ahead of her match at the North Sumatra Provincial Sports Week (Porprovsu) arena which will be held in 2026.
Under the guidance of trainer Niazi Almi, the girl who is familiarly called Intan continues to improve herself to be the best at the prestigious sporting event in North Sumatra which is held every four years.
Training continues to be intensified every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Fighter Boxing Camp boxing gym. The target to be achieved by the child of the couple Hanafiah Abdullah and Ruslaini is to defend the gold medal at the 2026 North Sumatra Provincial Sports Week.
Winning a Gold Medal
Previously, the athlete who lives on Jalan Sakinah 2 Medan managed to contribute a gold medal at the 2022 North Sumatra Provincial Sports Week.
This achievement was achieved by the alumni of FIK Unimed after defeating the resistance of the female boxer from South Tapanuli, Miranda Pasaribu in the women’s 57 kg class in the final match at the Jalan Sutomo Ujung Medan Youth Arena, November 4, 2022.
This made the girl who was born in Medan City become a contingent for North Sumatra at the 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra PON event. However, she failed in the preliminary round.
Preparation for the 2026 North Sumatra Provincial Sports Week
The career of the girl who was born on May 9, 2002 in this tough sport has been successful.
During his boxing career, the third of four siblings was recorded as the 1st place winner of the 2019 Junior Youth Championship, the 1st place winner of the 2019 Junior Youth National Championship, the 1st place winner of the 2021 Regional Selection, the 3rd place winner of the 2022 Elite National Championship, the 1st place winner of the 2022 North Sumatra Provincial Sports Week, the 2nd place winner of the 2023 Pangdam I/BB Cup, and the 3rd place winner of the 2024 Sarawak Malaysia Open Tournament.
“Currently, the focus of training is in preparation for the 2026 North Sumatra Provincial Sports Week. Yes, the target is to defend the gold medal, so that he can compete again in the 2027 Porwil to get a ticket to PON XXII/2028 which will be held in NTT-NTB,” said Intan in Medan, Monday, June 9, 2025.
Interested in Boxing
Intan’s interest in boxing began when she saw her cousins training and competing in boxing. After seeing the martial art of boxing up close, she wanted to try extreme sports for women to do.
Moreover, she received an invitation from her uncle who is a boxing trainer to practice boxing. The invitation was immediately responded to by this hijab-wearing athlete.
“Initially I got to know boxing when I saw my cousins training and competing. My cousins are also boxers from Medan, namely Novizar, Mutiara and Amelia. Over time I became interested in boxing. Moreover, my uncle Niazi Almi who is a boxing trainer for PPLP North Sumatra invited me to practice boxing. I immediately responded to the invitation,” said the boxer who competes in the 57 kg class. ***
