Indonesian skilled professionals win 9 awards at WSC Shanghai 2026
Indonesian skilled professionals won nine awards at the WorldSkills Competition (WSC) Shanghai 2026, placing 19th out of the 49 participating countries and regions.
The nine awards consisted of one silver medal, two bronze medals, and six Medallions of Excellence. Edsel Parama Mustapa won a silver medal in Software Applications Development.

Fatima Rani Al Husna Prameswara won two bronze medals in Restaurant Service, and Rash Asyari Amyris Thalib won two bronze medals in IT Network Systems Administration.
Novanda Putra Widya Ardhi (Electronics); Andi Ahmad Yusup (Web Technologies); Galang Zaki Arkana (Industrial Control); Reno Surya Permana and Rouf Aufa Rifqi (Mechatronics); Togar Andreas Silaban (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning); and Eka Anwar Fauzi (Automotive Technology) won six Medallions of Excellence.
Sukro Muhab, a special advisor to the Minister of Manpower, stated that participation in the WSC offers talented professionals an opportunity to put their skills to the test in a practical setting.
“Our talented vocational professionals compete against participants from various countries and are measured against global work standards and assessment criteria,” Sukro said in a press release issued by the Ministry of Manpower’s Public Relations Bureau on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

The 48th WSC is taking place from September 22 to 27, 2026, in Shanghai, China. More than 1,400 participants are competing in the event. Indonesia is sending 20 participants across 17 skill areas.
Prior to departure, they undergo a selection and training program involving training centers and educational institutions. One example is the Training Center for Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, and Electronics (BBPVP) in Bekasi.
The Ministry of Manpower, through the Directorate General of Vocational Training and Productivity Development (Binalavotas), oversees the delegation in collaboration with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, industry partners, and educational institutions.
According to Sukro, the WSC experience also serves as a learning opportunity for the development of vocational training in Indonesia, particularly regarding meeting requirements for competence, technology, precision, and work quality.
As a follow-up, various test projects and assessment criteria from the Shanghai WSC 2026 will be incorporated into the updated Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI). Workshop equipment at BBPVP/BPVP centers and vocational schools will also be modernized.
Sukro stated that the Ministry of Manpower, in consultation with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, will prepare more thoroughly and at an earlier stage for participation in the WSC.
The national selection process is expected to take place one year prior to the competition. The Ministry also aims to align WSC preparations with the Talent Innovation Hub (TIH) and the Training Center. ***rel

Talenta vokasi Indonesia meraih sembilan penghargaan pada WorldSkills Competition (WSC) Shanghai 2026 dan menduduki peringkat 19 dari 49 negara dan wilayah peserta.
Sembilan penghargaan tersebut terdiri atas satu medali perak, dua medali perunggu, dan enam Medal for Excellence. Medali perak diraih Edsel Parama Mustapa pada bidang Software Applications Development.
Dua medali perunggu diraih Fatima Rani Al Husna Prameswara pada bidang Restaurant Service dan Rash Asyari Amyris Thalib pada bidang IT Network Systems Administration.

Staf Khusus Menteri Ketenagakerjaan Sukro Muhab menyampaikan bahwa keikutsertaan di WSC menjadi kesempatan bagi talenta vokasi untuk menguji kemampuan secara langsung.
“Talenta vokasi kita berkompetisi dengan peserta dari berbagai negara dan menghadapi standar kerja serta penilaian yang berlaku di tingkat dunia,” ujar Sukro melalui siaran pers Biro Humas Kemnaker, Selasa, 29 September 2026.
WSC ke-48 berlangsung pada 22–27 September 2026 di Shanghai, Republik Rakyat Tiongkok. Kompetisi ini diikuti lebih dari 1.400 peserta.
Indonesia mengirimkan 20 kompetitor pada 17 bidang keahlian. Sebelum berangkat, mereka menjalani seleksi dan pembinaan, termasuk melalui Training Center di sejumlah pusat pelatihan dan institusi pendidikan. Salah satunya di BBPVP Bekasi untuk bidang Refrigeration and Air Conditioning dan Electronics.
Kementerian Ketenagakerjaan melalui Direktorat Jenderal Pembinaan Pelatihan Vokasi dan Produktivitas (Binalavotas) turut membina kontingen bersama Kementerian Pendidikan Dasar dan Menengah, mitra industri, serta lembaga pendidikan.
Menurut Sukro, pengalaman di WSC juga menjadi bahan pembelajaran bagi pengembangan pelatihan vokasi di Indonesia, terutama dalam melihat tuntutan kompetensi, teknologi, presisi, dan kualitas kerja.
Sebagai tindak lanjut, ragam test project dan kriteria penilaian WSC Shanghai 2026 akan diadopsi ke dalam pembaruan Standar Kompetensi Kerja Nasional Indonesia (SKKNI). Peralatan workshop di BBPVP/BPVP dan unit sekolah kejuruan juga akan dimodernisasi.
Sukro menyebut, ke depan Kemnaker akan menyiapkan keikutsertaan di WSC secara lebih dini dan matang dengan berkoordinasi bersama Kementerian Pendidikan Dasar dan Menengah.
Seleksi tingkat nasional direncanakan berlangsung satu tahun sebelum kompetisi. Kemnaker juga akan berupaya menyelaraskan persiapan WSC dengan selain Training Centre juga Talent Innovation Hub (TIH). ***rel
