Housewife Drives Motorcycle into Tree While Taking Children to School, Kills, Injures Two

 

A housewife named Sutiani (48) died after her motorcycle crashed into a tree while she was taking her two children to school.

Sunggal Police Chief, Commissioner M Yunus Tarigan, said the incident occurred on Jalan Ngumban Surbakti, Medan Selayang District, around 6:42 a.m. WIB. At the time of the accident, the victim was riding her motorcycle with her two children, MR (17) and BA (10).

“Initially, the officers on duty received a report of a traffic accident that had just occurred on Jalan Ngumban Surbakti,” Yunus said on Tuesday (February 3, 2026).

Victims taken to hospital by police


Yunus said that police officers immediately went to the scene after receiving the report.

Upon arrival, officers found the victims’ NMax motorcycle severely damaged in a ditch.

The victims were taken to Bina Kasih Hospital in Medan immediately after the incident.

At the hospital, the victims’ condition was checked. CCTV footage from the area was then reviewed.

The CCTV footage shows the victims riding from Simpang Pos towards Simpang Pemda.

Victim riding motorcycle at high speed and crashing into ditch


“The CCTV footage shows the victim’s motorcycle riding at high speed from Simpang Pos towards Simpang Pemda. When the motorcycle reached Studio Laundry, it swerved to the left and collided with a tree on the side of the road, causing the motorcycle to overturn and end up in the ditch,” he explained.

Sutiani, the motorcycle rider, died in the incident. The other two victims were injured and are being treated in the hospital.

Sunggal Traffic Police Chief, Chief Inspector Jefriadi Silaban, said the victims were a mother and her two children.

The victim was on her way to school when the accident occurred.

Jefri stated that his team is still investigating the cause of the accident. “The investigation is ongoing,” he explained.***
