Governor Bobby Nasution assures that fuel supplies in North Sumatra are safe
North Sumatra Governor Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution has urged regional officials in North Sumatra to educate the public about the dangers of excessive fuel purchases, or panic buying.
Bobby assured that fuel supplies in North Sumatra remain safe.
In recent days, long lines have formed at various gas stations in various regions of North Sumatra. Because of these lines, some gas stations are running out of stock faster than usual.
Public urged to avoid panic buying
Bobby Nasution does not want this situation to continue, as it could harm the population. Therefore, he hopes that the regional administrators and their staff will continue to educate the public so that they don’t resort to panic buying.
“I hope the regional administrators continue to educate the public, because from what I’ve observed during my visits to various districts and cities, it appears that hoarding only occurs in the cities,” said Bobby Nasution during a joint iftar meeting with the Gerindra North Sumatra Regional Leadership Council (DPD) at the Santika Premiere Dyandra Hotel, Jalan Kapten Maulana Lubis No. 7, Medan, on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
Bobby: We’ll never run out of fuel
Bobby Nasution compared the availability of national fuel supplies to a car tank that is refilled before it runs out.
“So there’s no reason to panic. We’ve never run out of fuel, even though our fuel supply is only good for 25 days, because it’s refilled before it runs out,” said Bobby Nasution.
Also present at the iftar gathering were members of the North Sumatra Regional Communication Forum for Leadership (Forkopimda), the chairman of the Gerindra North Sumatra Regional Development Cooperation (DPD), Ade Jona Prasetyo, and his staff. Also present were the heads of DPDs from other political parties, regents and mayors, and heads of relevant regional administrative organizations (OPDs) within the North Sumatra provincial government. ***rel
