Government Inaugurates Fastest Kualanamu Autogate, Queue Only 10 Minutes
MINISTER of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) Agus Andrianto together with the Governor of North Sumatra (Gubsu) Bobby Nasution and Deputy Chairman of Commission XIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives H. Sugiat Santoso inaugurated the Immigration Autogate and Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) Lounge at Kualanamu Airport, Deliserdang Regency, Tuesday (6/24/2025).
In addition to inaugurating the Autogate, it also inaugurated the Medan Rudenim, the Pematangsiantar Kanim Official Residence, and the Signing of the Cooperation Agreement, as well as the Submission of Land Certificates, and Grant Letters.
Fastest Kualanamo Autogate
On that occasion, Governor Bobby Nasution explained that the presence of the Kualanamu International Airport Autogate can provide the fastest service for the people of North Sumatra and newcomers.
This service is able to cut immigration queues that previously could reach 30-60 minutes, to no more than 10 minutes.
“So far, the problem is, before the autogate, the immigration queue at Kualanamu could be up to 30-60 minutes.
But after the Autogate, we asked the users of the facility directly, no more than 10 minutes. Even if it is very long, it is no more than 10 minutes,” said Governor Bobby.
He said that this Autogate service is an extraordinary service, which can be utilized by the public who use airport facilities.
Therefore, on behalf of the North Sumatra Provincial Government, Bobby Nasution expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Imipas, Mr. Agus Andrianto for the program that can support facilities at Kualanamu Airport.
Service and Optimization of Break-Even
Meanwhile, Minister of Imipas Agus Andrianto stated that today a number of activities jointly launched the Kualanamu International Airport Autogate, the Inauguration of the PMI Lounge, Medan Immigration Ruden, the Official Residence of the Pematangsiantar Immigration Office, and the Signing of the Cooperation Agreement, Handover of Land Certificates, and Grant Letters.
This is a joint commitment to providing optimal service, and increasing the efficiency of security and comfort, and the immigration process at the immigration service center at Kualanamu International Airport,” said Agus Andrianto.
Ease and Improvement of Passport Permits 2025
He stated that throughout the first semester of 2025, there were 109,728 passport permits and 3,066 residence permits. This shows that activities in the field of immigration in North Sumatra Province have increased.
“Of course, it has a positive impact on economic growth and the welfare of the people of North Sumatra. The presence of Autogate and PMI Lounge at Kualanamu Airport can provide optimal immigration services and protection in the public facility area for Indonesian and foreign citizens passing through Kualanamu Airport, and can realize close and comfortable services to the community,” he said.
Agus Andrianto said based on data from the North Sumatra Central Statistics Agency (BPS), North Sumatra’s economic growth in the first quarter of 2025 was at 4.67% (y/y). Investment realization in North Sumatra is IDR 48.271 trillion, consisting of IDR 22.44 trillion in PMDN and IDR 25.82 trillion in PMA.
Of course, this achievement will continue to be developed by both the North Sumatra Provincial Government and all regencies/cities to improve people’s welfare.
Therefore, the ranks of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, which are part of the government, also play a role in economic growth in North Sumatra, considering that the Ministry of Immigration has a role as a facilitator of development in the field of immigration,” said Agus.
As is known, the immigration autogate is an automatic crossing system that uses biometric technology (fingerprints and faces) to verify a person’s identity and entry/exit permit at the immigration crossing.
This system provides convenience and speed for crossers to pass through immigration checks independently.
Meanwhile, the PMI Lounge is a special waiting room facility at the airport provided for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) who are the country’s foreign exchange heroes.
This facility provides a place to rest, transit, and get the immigration information needed. This lounge is a form of government appreciation and attention to PMI who have contributed to the country’s economy.
Present at this event were Deputy Chairman of Commission XIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sugiat Santoso, Forkopimda North Sumatra, Special Staff of the Minister, Regent of Taput, Asahan, and Langkat, all leaders of OPD of the North Sumatra Provincial Government and Regency/City, all levels of directors of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections. ***
