Caroline Cicilia Nababan, Mathematics Olympiad Champion, Meets Governor of North Sumatra
The Governor of North Sumatra (Sumut), Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, expressed his special appreciation for Caroline Cicilia Nababan, a student at Rantau Selatan Primary School in the Labuhanbatu district, who won a gold medal during the global round of the Asia Science & Mathematics Competition (ASMC) 2026 in Malaysia.
Bobby Nasution expressed this appreciation during a reception for Caroline at the office of the Governor of North Sumatra in Medan. During the meeting, Bobby had a warm conversation with Caroline and presented her with various gifts to support her education and further development.

Caroline is the fifth of five children. Her achievements during the global round of the ASMC 2026 have put Indonesia’s reputation on the international map.
During the meeting, Bobby spoke to Caroline like a father. He asked her various questions, including about the secret to her success and winning the title of Olympic champion.
Caroline replied that the key to her success lay in diligent studying and constantly praying to God. Bobby then asked about her ambitions.
“What do you want to become?” asked Bobby.
Caroline answered that she wanted to become an astronaut and a doctor. This answer created a warm atmosphere in the meeting and brought a smile to everyone’s face. Bobby also wished Caroline good luck with her dreams.

“Hopefully your dreams come true,” said Bobby.
Bobby then asked Caroline about her dreams. Without hesitation, Caroline expressed her wish to meet President Prabowo Subianto.
In addition, Caroline also wanted to meet Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and the seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. She also hoped to receive a scholarship from Governor Bobby.
Bobby responded to this wish by supporting her in various ways, including with a scholarship, tuition fees, and a tablet for her studies. In a friendly atmosphere, Caroline also had the opportunity to try out the office chair of the Governor of North Sumatra in Bobby’s office.
