Bobby Nasution’s Activities During His Visit to the Nias Islands
The Governor of North Sumatra, Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, has returned to the Nias Islands. This visit serves as a testament to the North Sumatra provincial government’s ongoing commitment to accelerating the archipelago’s development.
During this second working visit, the governor will carry out various strategic initiatives that directly address the community’s needs.

While visiting the Nias Islands, the governor will undertake a series of activities, including evaluating healthcare services, gathering community input, and ensuring the continuity of various development programs.
“This is the governor’s second visit to the Nias Islands. His presence here confirms that our commitment to accelerating development in Nias is not a one-off event, but a sustainable program with progress continuously monitored year after year,” said Erwin Hotmansah Harahap, Head of the North Sumatra Communication and Information Bureau, speaking to reporters in Gunungsitoli.
During the visit, the governor inspected the healthcare facilities at Thomsen Regional Hospital to ensure the quality of medical care provided to the community. While at the hospital, Bobby also took the time to speak with patients undergoing treatment.
Subsequently, the governor engaged with the community to listen to their concerns. He was also scheduled to evaluate coastal erosion control efforts, speak with fishermen, observe seaweed farming in North Nias Regency, and inspect the condition of various roads in the region.

According to Erwin, the governor’s visit to the Nias community demonstrates that development in this archipelago region has consistently received attention from the North Sumatra provincial government. He assured that all strategic programs that have been designed will be continued sustainably.
“The purpose of this visit to Nias is to ensure that all previously initiated strategic programs are effectively continued and that their benefits optimally serve the wider community,” said Erwin.
For this second phase of the visit, the governor was accompanied by various heads of regional departments (OPDs) from the North Sumatra provincial government.
This step was taken to ensure the swift implementation of planned programs and to allow the community’s voice to be heard, in line with the officials’ respective duties and functions within their departments. The governor was accompanied by members of the North Sumatra Regional House of Representatives (DPRD).

Yohanes, a resident of Gunungsitoli, welcomed Bobby Nasution’s return to the Nias Islands. He believes this move demonstrates the provincial government’s strong commitment to overseeing sustainable development in the archipelago.
