Siantar Police Chief takes decisive action in the fight against drugs
The narcotics brigade of the Pematangsiantar police has once again proven its capability in combating drug trafficking.
Over the past week, five methamphetamine dealers were arrested at four different locations, underscoring the police’s zero tolerance policy towards drug traffickers.
Swift response to public concern
Pematangsiantar Police Chief, AKBP Sah Udur TM Sitinjak, stated through the head of the narcotics brigade, AKP Irwanta Sembiring, that these arrests were a swift response to public concern. “We give drug dealers no room,” Irwanta emphasized on Saturday (March 14, 2026).
The series of arrests began on Friday (March 6, 2026), when GPP (24), a repeat offender, was arrested on Jalan Sudirman with 2.56 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
The following day, Saturday (March 7, 2026), TKS (34), also a repeat offender, was arrested on Jalan Rakutta Sembiring with 5.02 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
Suspects arrested at various locations
Monday (March 9, 2026) was a busy day. That afternoon, JH (29) was arrested in the courtyard of the Adelweis Hotel on Jalan Tuan Rondahaim, with 0.69 grams of crystal methamphetamine in his possession. Later that evening, the largest arrest took place on Jalan Manunggal Karya, where DH (25) and APH (39) were arrested with 56.34 grams of crystal methamphetamine and three ecstasy pills.
Investigation into major drug traffickers continues
The five suspects are currently being held in the cell at the Pematangsiantar police station and are being charged under Section 114 (1) in conjunction with Section 112 (1) of the Narcotics Act No. 35 of 2009, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years or life imprisonment.
Irwanta added that an intensive investigation is underway to identify the major drug traffickers behind the suspects.
This operation demonstrates that the Pematangsiantar police are determined to tackle drug networks that disrupt public order.***
