Asahan Police Mobile Unit arrests lottery dealer posing as grilled meatball seller

Hendri Suandi Lase, a grilled meatball seller in Hamlet III, Silau Maraja Village, Setia Janji District, Asahan Regency, was arrested by police on suspicion of selling Macau lottery proceeds.

The 31-year-old man was apprehended by the Asahan Police Mobile Unit while operating his grilled meatball stall.

Hendri was arrested around 9:00 PM on Monday (February 2) after police received a report from a citizen about alleged gambling activity at the location.

Speaking to reporters, AKP Police Detective Unit Head Immanuel P. Simamora said his unit immediately launched an investigation after receiving the report.

Perpetrator Unable to Resist Police Raid

“As soon as I received the report from the public, I immediately ordered the detective unit to conduct an investigation and take action on the spot,” AKP Immanuel said Wednesday (February 4).

Observations revealed that Macau lottery ticket numbers were being ordered via mobile phones.

Payments were made directly at the booth.

After confirming the presence of gambling, police conducted a raid and arrested the perpetrator and recovered the evidence.

When police arrived, Hendri was unable to resist arrest.

Police took the perpetrator to the Asahan Police Station.

Initial investigation revealed that the gambling activity had been taking place since December 2025.

The perpetrator is currently being held at the Asahan Police Station pending further legal action. The perpetrator’s case will soon be submitted to the Public Prosecution Office (JPU).

AKP Immanuel emphasized that the Asahan Police are determined to take firm action against all forms of gambling within their jurisdiction.

“We will not tolerate any form of gambling, whether it is in a land-based casino or online,” he concluded.
