Preparations for the 2026 Hajj in North Sumatra: Maintaining North Sumatra’s Good Name

The Governor of North Sumatra, Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, emphasized the importance of providing optimal services in organizing the Hajj pilgrimage of 1447 A.D./2026 A.D.

He made this announcement during the event for the consolidation of the Hajj organization in 2026 and the opening of the integrated training for Hajj Pilgrimage Committees (PPIH) and Regional Hajj Officials (PHD), held at the Hajj Residence in Medan on Jalan AH Nasution on Friday, January 30, 2026.

Improving the Quality of Hajj Services

Bobby Nasution expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for their continued efforts to improve the quality of Hajj services.

He also hopes that Hajj pilgrims from North Sumatra will receive the best possible support so that they can perform their pilgrimage with dedication and be a blessing to the region.

“We hope that Hajj pilgrims receive optimal service. I urge all officials to take the training seriously. Build a strong team, uphold the good name of the region (North Sumatra), and instill the principle that this duty is a form of worship. Prioritize service, not being served,” said Bobby.

Bobby emphasized the willingness of the North Sumatra provincial government to continue its cooperation in supporting regional services, including coordinating the departure and return of pilgrims with district/municipal governments and educating the public to ensure a smooth and orderly Hajj process.

Ministry of Hajj and Umrah: Ensuring Hajj Services

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, emphasized that the establishment of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah was a direct order from the president to ensure the highest quality of Hajj services.

“The duty of officials is to assist pilgrims, especially those from different regional cultures who may never have left their home region. This is a noble journey, so please assist them sincerely,” said the minister, better known as Gus Irfan.

The head of the regional office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in North Sumatra, Zulkifli Sitorus, reported that institutional preparations are progressing well in 23 districts/cities in North Sumatra. He also indicated that the verification of pilgrim passports has reached 90% and that full completion is expected within two days.

“We are fully committed to the success of the minister’s grand vision. Despite technical challenges on the ground, all our officials are willing to work hard. We also continue to strengthen cooperation with local governments to ensure a smooth Hajj in North Sumatra in 2026,” Zulkifli explained.

This integrated training aims to strengthen collaboration between various sectors, ensuring the entire 2026 Hajj pilgrimage, from departure to return, runs smoothly, safely, and transparently.

The Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, and heads of regional offices from districts and cities across North Sumatra were also present.***obs
