A viral video on social media shows the alleged unpleasant incidents that consumers experienced after eating food at City Ice Cream on Jalan Palang Merah in Medan.
The video was uploaded by the TikTok account @siapaajaboleh.62 and immediately caught the public’s attention.
In the video, the person recording the video confesses to eating tainted food, which allegedly caused health problems for six people.
Victims will sue City Ice Cream through lawyers
The families of the victims have filed an objection and plan to take the case to court.
The post also tagged the official accounts of City Ice Cream, the Red Cross, and the North Sumatra Health Department, hoping to draw attention and prompt follow-up action from the relevant authorities.
Food poisoning at City Ice Cream causes nausea and vomiting in victim
Meanwhile, Hamid Rizal Lubis, secretary of the North Sumatra Health Department, told reporters that his department had investigated the information circulating on social media. The North Sumatra Health Department coordinated with the Medan Health Department and immediately responded to the scene.
According to Hamid, a customer ate at City Ice Cream on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, and experienced nausea and vomiting about an hour later, requiring immediate medical attention and immediate hospitalization at Columbia Asia Hospital.
“There was a dish on the menu called Sumerkis. After a medical examination, we consulted internally. For an incident to be classified as food poisoning, there usually needs to be more than one victim,” Lubis said.
North Sumatra Health Department to Inspect City Ice Cream
The North Sumatra Health Department will conduct an environmental inspection at City Ice Cream. The inspection will take place in several phases, in accordance with current standards.
“We will conduct an environmental inspection within a week. Afterward, we will share the results with our media partners,” Hamid concluded.
This matter is still under investigation, and the public is awaiting further clarification from the authorities.
